London 9th Aug: Former Asian champion Abdalelah Haroun of Qatar has become first Asian medallist in the 400m at the IAAF World Championship, winning bronze medal in 44.48s. Haroun late surge in the final 50m earned him season best timing as well as bronze medal. He said, "The first thing I wanted to do was reach the final but I've had to fight for a medal. I knew it was a big chance for me so, I am very happy to have taken the opportunity. It is a very special moment for my country and an honour to take the bronze medal with me."
